In October 2001, I had the exciting opportunity to speak at UC Berkeley in California. After my presentation there went well, I headed over to stay at my favourite hotel in San Francisco, the Chancellor, worked in our Dublin office for a week, spent a further week and a bit hanging out in SF, I made it over to Boston where I stayed with Tim Hartmann, and hung out with all his friends. Then I headed up to see my cousin and her family in Vermont, had a quick zoom up to Montreal and finally ended in Toronto. Unfortunately I had to completely retrace my steps back to SF, since my plane ticket home was from there. Thus ended almost a month of travel-surfing... During most of this time, I had no camera, but here is what I managed to capture when I did. | ||

For me, Berkeley and MIT have always held huge attraction, thanks to their involvement in computer history. (Steven Levy s book, Hackers sums all of this up nicely, if you are after more information.) After a wander around the MIT Museum and the campus, I took a walk down the Infinite Corridor, and attempted not to look too overwhelmed by the experience. As the sun was setting, I grabbed some nice pictures of the MIT Media Lab |

My first day was spent going up the CN Tower and walking around. After a good night in watching the Sopranos with co-Godfather Anthony, the second day in Toronto started slowly - meeting Christine, Nadia and Eugene from our office there.
