I have been too tired/busy/sunburnt to give an update of the weekend, but here, briefly, is how it went.
I only managed to leave work at 4.15 on Friday, so had a mad dash round town to get a camping mat and some other bits and bobs. As I was zooming, I decided I needed a new haircut, and quite fancied a blue mohican; my brother did a fine job of barbering my hair but the blue dye just did absolutely nothing (I didn't fancy bleaching it as I had to work on Monday). I decided a quick beard trim was also in order - check out my fresh do here.
Sandy and I managed to get to the campsite, and, with some assistance from Stella got the tent up in a pretty good spot, then we went to catch the Beat 106 party bus. We had a good dance, I got some food, and we consumed a good amount of cider, which I had run the length of Rose Street to purchase! I had some tasty burgers and chips. Mmmm - made from real dog, too. Not so funny was being completely unable to find our tent in the massive tent city for voer an hour.
Saturday began quite early with the sun beating down on the tent, so we headed off to catch the music ... which did not actually start until much after we got there. I felt the line-up on Saturday was not overly inspiring compared to Sunday. Groove Armada were OK, but I was not blown away. I was coerced into watching Oasis to finish the night off which, to be perfectly honest, I found pretty boring - Liam still seems like an idiot and Noel wrote the only two songs I vaguely enjoyed - but at least I can now say that I have seen them live. I'm sure the grandkids will be SO proud of me for that. Right. My heid was somewhat tinged after the weather managed to stay surprisngly sunny ALL day!
Sunday started much later, after a bit of a lie-in. We took half a bottle of cider and black(currant) and filled the rest with two beers, apparently making (a) 'Pink Panther', which was quite tasty. We refilled a few times during the day! We saw Green Day (Green Day) who really made a good stage show, and even had a bunch of kids up on stage playing the drums, bass and guitar (which they then gave to the girl playing it). Sonic Youth were pretty good, but Mercury Rev *really* stole the show - their set was SO good. At one point, everyone was clapping so much that the band were standing on the stage laughing bemusedly. Chemical Brothers finishing the night was good and everyone really got into the music. I did take a picture of this with my Communicam, but it is way too dark to see anything at all. :-( The night finished off with some more Beat106 action - this time my navigation home was faultless!
More when I have time...
