Minimal blog = busy Martin. On the weekend I *finally* got round to buying a lot of speaker cable and a drill. I asked Jams for advice on the drill, but seeing as I did not have 3000 pounds to get the latest De Wahl machinery, I have a rather nice Bosch, with cool variable speed, which I have found very handy indeed!
What was I up to? Well, I like having long showers, so I like having nice sounds in the bathroom. At Christmas, after my dad helped me decorate the bathroom, I whacked a pair of speakers in there and trailed some cable from my hi-fi in the living room along to the bathroom. It really makes me happy to have music in the morning as I shower and shave. After seven months of tramping on cable, I finally pulled the floor up and got busy. I now have a supreme install - cable goes underneath the floor in my living room, along the hall, to the back wall of the bathroom, into a 'water pipe cupboard' then pops out just a few inches from the speakers. Very nice and tidy indeed! After I did that, I layed the carpet in my bathroom (also missing for seven months!) tore my living room apart, nailed down some carpet in there too and sorted the place out. It was a good feeling to have - achieving something smart. My drill pleases me too - I feel like a real homeowner now.
Tonight I was just finishing off the install to the bathroom with the proper colour of speaker cable (white, instead of bronze) and tidying up the mess I created. Now I am v.tired. Some quick surfing then horizontal until my alarm calls me back to the real world.
