If technology doesn't seem like magic, it's probably obsolete

I'm finding less time to update my blog these days, but my flickr photostream is often updated.

Playing in my house right now...

One of the mailing lists I'm on pointed to a rumour on the esato message boards about the next version of the legendary Sony Ericsson P800, the P810.

The key details seem to be:

  • size - smaller, lighter and considerably thinner
  • speed - faster processors
  • screen - 65k colours tft
  • look
    • dark metal (look?) with chromed buttons
    • stylus sits behind the phone and is made of metal
    • Memory Stick Duo slot is protected like on the Z1010

The original thread is here. Does it have any validity? Maybe, maybe not. The guy, borat, who posted what appears to be the best information yet, also posted about the T610, in January which had a right-on-the-money description.

Looks like I'm going to have to take a second job to feed my phone phetish. ;-)

[Update Wednesday 25th June, 20.35 GMT]: Mobile Burn have some pictures of the P810!

word I heard is it will actually be called p820i and will come in several pastel shades, be 10cm thick, have a full qwerty keyboard, come with a free copy of networked dungeons and dragons for use with bluetooth, be tcp3 ready, and be able to use mp4 for ringtones
