If technology doesn't seem like magic, it's probably obsolete

I'm finding less time to update my blog these days, but my flickr photostream is often updated.

Playing in my house right now...

Phew - another day is over. Today has seen:
  • all cupboards now installed as well as all available doors fitted
  • oven, hob and fridge set in place
  • installers now finished
  • I asked the plumber to investigate why the drains in the bathroom were now running away so slowly - he spent several hours and used a variety of dangerous chemicals and large wire implements to discover why...

Before you think it is all over, here's the list of remaining tasks:

  • completion of sink installation (Thursday)
  • connection of gas hob (Thursday)
  • completion of all electrical tasks - front plates put on all sockets, connection of oven, hob (electronic starters), fridge, under unit lights and ceiling lighting (Thursday)
  • delivery and installation of washing machine (Thursday)
  • delivery and installation of final doors and plinths (next week...)
  • plastering of ceiling and walls (next Wednesday)
  • decoration of room (next week/week after)

After that, I'll be holding a party to celebrate, and you're all invited! It's looking like it may be a mid-week party, cos weekends are just non-existant during August for many people. Watch this space.

I'm not sure I can contain my excitement. What have you been eating if you didn't have a kitchen until now?

Simon - I understand. Just hold on for a few more weeks...

My dad (who is a retired chef), made several dishes before he came over, so that we could just heat them over a little gas stove and eat them with bread. Mighty tasty they were too!
