Getting sound set up in my kitchen was meant to be a trivial task, but unfortunately it's got a touch complicated. After receiving a SliMP3, I had planned to pop a wireless access point behind it, move my existing bedroom stereo into the kitchen and voila! Unfortunately, I am having some issues with the SliMP3, in that it won't play anything - it's just crackles and beeps. Thanks to some marvellous support from Slimdevices, I'm getting a UK power supply sent over; if my problems are not resolved by that (and I fear they may not be), I'll need to get a replacement organised. Gah. You win some, you lose some.
Anyway, as you can see, I'd be losing the hifi from my bedroom. So, the logical thing to do, would be to buy a second SliMP3, an amp and a new pair of speakers (via Richer Sounds, for cost savings!). Then I found these lovely powered speakers, thanks to some good advice on here. This would mean all I needed was a SliMP3, a WAP and these guys - pretty good deal, especially when I can find them even cheaper online. Now the tricky part: it would really make more sense to put these tiny little speakers into my kitchen instead of my bedroom, to simplify installation and due to the decrease in installation complications. Hmmm. At this time, the kitchen is winning.
Then, Jams pointed out a neat thing - it is possible to stream Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) via PC with a Psion Wavefinder; this in turn can be streamed via the SliMP3. Unfortunately, it looks like you need a Windows box to make that happen. Grrr.
So, it looks like there are still quite a few problems to get over before I've got a rocking system throughout the flat. Thus are life's trials. ;-)

can't you get a windows emulator for the linux box? or is there a hardware dependency?
I would guess that there *must* be a geek out there who has put together driver software for the Wavefinder.
