- go to Edinburgh Castle on Sunday, and get in for free. If you have never been, make it a priority -- it rocks.
- the FT has a new technology section. Looks quite nice. Complete lack of RSS feeds. What gives???
- GNER have put WiFi on a train. I was going to fly to London in December, but I may go by train now. Yes, really.
- Joi covers phone usage body language. Which one are you?
- domestic wind generators (surely that is not correct!) are now available. Just whack one on the roof and snip that big supply cable [safety note: make sure it is disconnected first]
- should smoking in public places be banned? Seeing as health is directly affected, I'm pretty much in favour.
- following Dave's post on social software, I happened across this post, pointing to PeopleAggregator which seems like it answers a few of Dave's questions. It's good to see Russ on the front page! My own profile is here.
- Concorde has been floating around New York today. One of my friends has some photos photos taken from her office. Important reminder: Concorde charity auction on December the 1st.

As someone who has been living in (smoke-free)New York for the past 3 months, its going to come as a shock to the system to return to smoke filled bars in the UK. Fair enough, I'm not a smoker so obviously i dont have to stand freezing outside if i want a cigarrette but if pushed, i reckon even most smokers here prefer it. Not even smokers like stinking. If you remember the uproar caused when they banned smoking on trains, planes, offices and sports grounds and how now you couldnt imagine it any other way. I reckon, that given time it'll be the same for bars etc.
No, smoking in public places shouldn't be banned, but perhaps more pubs and restaurants would become smoke-free if they were required via licensing to have adequate air-conditioning, or pay a higher fee for their licence?
