As luck had it, the timing of our visit to Cramond
Island was perfect. The tide was almost at the low point, so we could
walk across to Cramond Island.

Hello,
picture is wonderful, my dad built the little sheds on the island in 1941 for anti-aircraft soldiers. I wonder if they are still there...Regards, Graeme.

Thanks for your comment, Graeme. Very cool. There was certainly something that looked like it could have been used during the war directly at the end of the walkway. Next time I'm there, I'll get you some pictures!

We're from Edinburgh and we love Crammond. We go there every year for our friend's birthday and also regularly at other times of the year, and yes the buildings are still ther and in perfect condition so thankyou cos we don't have to take tents with us!

Also, We know the Island really well. There's one building at the end of the walkway but all the others are much further away on the left of the Island. There's also a ruin from way before the military got their hands on the place. It's very magickal. We call it the fairy garden. No disrespect but I hate it when the military take a place of natural beauty and use it for their own devices. Still, It's an ill wind that blows no good ~ at least we've got shelter there now. Would like to know if there's a source of water out there. Once we had to drink berry juice till we were sick of it!!
