If technology doesn't seem like magic, it's probably obsolete

I'm finding less time to update my blog these days, but my flickr photostream is often updated.

Playing in my house right now...

At 00:00 GMT on Thursday I was listening to:

  • the BBC has added a Weblog Watch to it's weekly magazine portion of the site, which is well worth a read. I particularly liked two sites it linked to: Postsecret, where people send hard-copy postcards with a secret one the picture side, and group hug, for anonymous online confessions
  • Chemical Brothers remixed, and free to download (via Isaack)
  • insanely cheap Web hosting, here for my reference
  • insanely cheap fibre/fiber connections in Silicon Valley. If you lived there, why wouldn't you get this. Immedately.
  • dwlt is making over his site, including a nice mobile version ... which is handy, as I'll be able to nick leverage Dave's work for my own site (finally)
  • on a related note, I caught up with dwlt for a beer tonight. We headed to my local (OK, the most local pub to my flat, quite literally within spitting distance ... if there's a following wind, and you have a strong throat), the Canny Man's. It's quite an experience going there for a drink, and I've seen plenty of people be asked to leave, simply because the owner didn't like their face. However, over the last few months I've become something of a fan. Read the reviews for a taster of the atmosphere, and definitely put it on your list of places to visit if you're hitting Edinburgh: reviews 1, reviews 2.
